The main objectives of the Emporium are to:
1.
Support and develop the various arts, crafts and related talents and indigenous knowledge towards preserving and perpetuating the country’s unique traditional and cultural heritage.
2.
Develop handicrafts industry into a profitable and dignified vocation for Rural Craftsmen and Crafts women so as to reduce the ever increasing burden of village livelihood on agriculture sector which is the main occupation in Bhutan.
3.Capture international markets through various product adaptations in the forms of ready made utility items in accordance with their suitability in terms of the peculiar requirement of particular regions and areas.
4.Assist and promote any rural artisans with information on markets, product ideas, and training in such fields as weaving, painting, woodcarving, carpentry, tailoring, mask making etc. and also providing monetary assistance where the end products are meant for the emporium.
5.Organize exhibitions and shows to promote awareness among the consumers on the artistic skills and potentials of the cottage industry in generating income.
6.Provide training / workshops on standardization and quality control for the products produced in the rural areas in the country to be able to market both in the national and international level.
