Contemporary Products Launched by Her Majesty the Queen


In Thimphu 10th June 2005, Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck launched the contemporary collection of life style products, women’s wear, scarves and living and dinning room décor designed from traditional textiles. Since the rich textiles of Bhutan have potential markets overseas, the main aim was to encourage and develope the products and promote traditional textiles of Bhutan in the international market that conforms to international standards.

And in 2007, showrooms of Handicrafts Emporium was also renovated and re-inaugurated by the Toshihiro Tanaka Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP, Thimphu Bhutan.

This event was made successfully with the financial assistant from the Women in Development (WID), Japan and the UNDP, coordinated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, RGOB Thimphu, and the products will be distributed locally and internationally by the Handicrafts Emporium.
