Diversifying Weaving and dyeing training workshop
Weavers from Lhuentse and Trashigang were introduced to basic ideas on product design and ways to initiate new ideas and themes of producer development during the workshop held from December 20th to 24th in Khaling, Trashigang (2005).
The women weavers from Khoma geog in Lhuntse and Radhi geog in Trashigang have been trained in vegetable dyeing, which is colour fast, natural and permanent. The training has helped in producing better handicrafts products.
Designers and officials from the National Handloom Development Centre (NHDC) Khaling, National Women’s Association of Bhutan and the Handicrafts Emporium in Thimphu also attended the four-day workshop.
The workshop was also discussed e-business piloting for rural women artisans and entrepreneur in the country.
In order to generate and initiate new ideas, themes and issues for product development. The workshop was also stressed on examining artisan products from other part of Asia.
The project was aimed at introducing e-business project strategy to women weavers, NHDC Khaling and the Handicrafts Emporium Thimphu to help them in marketing the textile products and help in research using emerging electronic and IT platforms to enhance handicrafts business processes.
